Project Overview
I collaborated with Jas Singh on his SABOTAGE project, creating an augmented reality layer for his live event at the LCB Depot in Leicester in February 2020. This project combined contemporary art with interactive technology to enhance the audience's engagement with Singh's multimedia work.
About the Artist
SABOTAGE is the pseudonym of Leicester-based artist Jas Singh. His practice explores sociopolitical current affairs through dissonant audio interplaying with architecture, installations, sculpture, and video. Singh's work primarily focuses on interactive live performative art, collaborating directly with audiences to create dynamic, responsive experiences.
AR Integration
The augmented reality component added a digital dimension to Singh's physical installations, allowing viewers to access additional layers of content through their mobile devices. This technology bridge between the tangible and virtual elements of the exhibition, creating an immersive environment that reflected the artist's interest in challenging traditional presentation formats.
Artistic Context
Singh's approach to combining dissonant audio with architectural elements created a foundation for the AR layer to expand upon, offering audiences multiple ways to experience and interpret the work. The collaboration demonstrated how augmented reality can enhance live performative art without diminishing the immediacy of the physical experience.
