Zeropence & Andy Harper - a collaborative audiovisual performance, with support from Arts Council England. A fusion of Meditative drones, classical Indian singing and improvised electronica with spoken word and ground shaking sub's, all in the serene backdrop of the Bishop St Methodist Church in Leicester.
What We Did
We created a immersive, meditative 45-minute journey that transcended its initial form as a sound installation. By performing in real-time, we responded to the audience's energy, creating a calming and reflective soundscape.
This site-specific installation was a response to the unique energy we felt in the venue, particularly the sense of height and openness.
Projection mapping brought the church's organ bells to life with a captivating visual display, further amplifying the space's grandeur.
A professional sound engineer calibrated the audio to work with the venue's natural acoustics, minimising echoes and creating a clear, immersive soundscape.
We embraced the inherent ambience, incorporating the flickering glow of candlelight and the soft aroma of incense to enhance the atmosphere.
As guests arrived, an introductory soundscape welcomed them, setting the tone for the experience. Binaural Beats at 7-13 Hz were employed to promote relaxation and complement the space's tranquility.
Looking Forward
For our next endeavour, we're interested in exploring more participatory elements, transforming each audience member into an instrument within the sonic tapestry. This approach aligns with the concept of "spacial audio," where the audience becomes an active participant in shaping the overall experience.
