Alpha Emergence
Presented at BETA X and curated by Interact Digital Arts, Alpha Emergence is an immersive audiovisual performance exploring communication, perception and collective experience through sound and moving image.
Combining original electronic compositions, spoken word and real-time visuals, the work creates a contemplative environment that invites reflection on how we connect with one another during periods of uncertainty and change. Sound and image evolve together, guiding audiences through shifting emotional and sensory states that move between tension, stillness and release.
Developed as a live audiovisual performance, the project explores the potential of shared experience as a space for reflection, empathy and dialogue. Many of the themes investigated in the work, including immersion, participation and collective presence, continue to inform my installation practice today.
The project expanded my interest in how sound and moving image can influence the experience of space. Many of the questions explored through the performance, including collective presence, attention and sensory perception, have since evolved into installation works that place audiences within responsive environments rather than in front of a stage.
