CLOUDS: ELEVATED
Beacon Hill Country Park, Leicestershire, UK
Commissioned by Artspace for the Beacon Hill Sculpture Trail
Clouds was a temporary installation that used suspended fabric and projected light to create moments of atmosphere within the woodland landscape.
Anchored between trees, translucent surfaces gathered, reflected and dispersed light, forming shifting spatial compositions that appeared and dissolved as visitors moved through the site. Rather than presenting a fixed object, the work focused on creating conditions for perception, inviting audiences to encounter the landscape through light, colour and changing viewpoints.
The installation marked an important step in my ongoing investigation into atmosphere as a sculptural medium. Working directly within the landscape revealed how light, weather, material and site could become active participants in the work, laying the foundations for later projects including Weather Machine and Breathing Machine.
