Experiments: Wu Wei (2022)
An audiovisual exploration of Taoist philosophy, specifically the principle of Wu Wei - "effortless action" or "nothingness." This experimental piece captures the transformative power of restful inaction through digital art and sound.
Created through a process of letting go, the composition emerged from removing thought and intention, allowing the music to flow naturally while the body became a vessel for the creative process. The visuals, while digital, evoke organic forms reminiscent of bird wings in flight and traditional Eastern calligraphy.
Embracing Zhuangzi's wisdom to "smash your form and body, spit out hearing and eyesight," the piece invites viewers to forget their individuality and merge into profound unity with the boundless. An auditory and visual journey transcending boundaries, echoing the timeless wisdom of the Tao.
“You have only to rest in inaction and things will transform themselves. Smash your form and body, spit out hearing and eyesight, forget you are a thing among other things, and you may join in great unity with the deep and boundless.”
Zhuangzi, The Complete Works of Chuang Tzu
